J.D. grew up on a family farm near Benson, MN and worked on the farm through high school and college assisting his father and older brother. He earned a double major in English and Mass Communications from St. Cloud State University with the mission of becoming the beat writer for the Minnesota Twins. While he never had the opportunity to cover his favorite team, he remains passionate about all Minnesota sports. J.D. enjoys working with producers and helping them navigate the volatility in the grain and livestock markets. He has presented his Options 101 seminar numerous times across the state of Minnesota and really enjoys teaching new customers how options work as a tool to gain control of their marketing plan. J.D. lives in Northfield with his wife Katy, and they have three adult children.
