Matt is native to West Concord, Minnesota and began his journey toward Advance Trading, Inc. having job shadowed one of ATI’s prominent risk advisors, Lou Kohlmann. This experience confirmed Matt’s agricultural education plans which culminated in his earning a degree from South Dakota State University (SDSU) while minoring in Ag Science with Ag Marketing and Ag Business. His university studies provide Matt opportunities to gain commodities and farm marketing experience at ethanol and soybean processing plants. During his senior year at SDSU, he was selected as the first student designated to manage two funds aligned to an equities portfolio and commodities trading. Upon graduation, Matt worked for Farmers Cooperative Elevator Co. as a grain originator for 7 separate elevators and various processing plans in the draw territory. Matt is now using his education and experience to serve clients across the state of Minnesota as a Risk Advisor – pursuing his passion to help farmers manage risk.
